ALPENA — When you walk into the Nostalgia Factory, it feels like you have been swept away in a time machine and made stops in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

The Alpena store — located on Chisholm Street near MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena — buys, sells, and trades vintage clothing, toys, sports cards and memorabilia and video games.

Owner Dan Bradish said there is something for everyone, of any age, and many of the items are hard to find that are difficult to track down today.

He said many customers are reminded of days gone by when they begin to browse the racks and shelves.

“I can’t tell you how many people have told us it is like a trip down Memory Lane,” Bradish said. “There is so much that you won’t really be able to see everything in one visit.”

From historic Air Jordan Nike tennis shoes, to Star Wars collectibles, many of the iconic brands and titles that are large parts of pop culture, are proudly displayed.

There are many vintage concert shirts dating back decades and jackets and hats too.

Jenna Werda, who works at the store with Bradish, explained what people can expect when they walk into the “factory.”

“Well, you’re going to hear some 90s dance beats and experience a trip down memory lane and see things you haven’t seen since you were a kid,” she said. “There is a little bit of everything for everybody.”

Werda and Bradish are avid collectors and they said eventually their various collections began to consume much of the space in their home.

Bradish said they began attending swap meets and other events around Michigan before deciding to open up shop in Alpena.

“It started as a personal collection that outgrew the house and we continue to get new items all the time,” Bradish said. “Were a one stop shop for anything from the 80’s, 90’s, and early 2000s. With a few other decades thrown in there. Specializing in vintage clothing and collectibles, but not lacking in anything else that brought fond memories from each of our childhoods.”

The store has many sales and people who want to know more about the store and its inventory can follow the store’s Facebook page.
